File Uploads & Follow-Ups
Attaching files to a chat and asking follow-up questions.
Uploading Files
In the chat input — drag & drop or click the 📎 icon
Supported — PDF, PNG, JPG, WebP, MD (max 10 MB)
Upload happens instantly — file goes to your Bucket
Send your message — file is attached as context for that turn
From Backpack (File Bucket)
Click the archive icon (top bar) → File Bucket Modal → select files → "Add to Chat".
- Shows all your uploaded files (images + PDFs)
- Grid view for images, list for docs
- One-click to attach as reference
Referenced Files (Context Chips)
- Highlight text in any AI response → "Add to context" → becomes a chip below input
- Chips persist for the session — Epis sees them on every turn
- Click ✕ on chip to remove
Follow-Up Questions
Two ways to dig deeper:
1. Manual Follow-Up
Just type: "Why did you pick that formula?" or "Explain step 3 in Sinhala." Epis sees full history + any attached files/chips.
2. Silent Follow-Up (on Question Cards)
When Epis returns a Question Display (from past paper retrieval):
- Click "Follow Up" on the question card
- Epis silently generates explanation — no user message added to chat
- Answer appears as new AI message
3. Regenerate
Hover any AI message → click ⟳ → Epis re-answers with same context (new random seed).
Model & Billing on Uploads
- Lite — reads text from PDFs, analyzes images
- Bright/Prof — better at complex diagrams, multi-page reasoning
- Credits — file upload doesn't cost extra; only the AI response uses credits (4/25/45 per model)
Daily cap applies to subscription credits. If you hit the cap mid-chat, Epis prompts to switch to PAYG wallet (if you have credits) or upgrade.
Limits
- File size — up to 10MB per upload.
