Generating Summaries & Notes
Turn your sources into structured summaries or detailed notes.
Two text actions: Summary (concise) and Notes (detailed, structured). Both save to Vault.
How It Works
- Add sources (PDFs, exam reviews, YouTube, etc.)
- Open Actions tab (right panel) → click Summary or Notes
- Optional: add custom instructions ("Focus on formulas", "Keep under 500 words")
- Click Generate → streams response → saves to Vault → appears as Action Card in chat
Summary vs Notes
- Concise overview (2–5 paragraphs)
- Key concepts, definitions, relationships
- Good for: quick revision, getting the gist
- Prompt: "Summarize the key points from the sources..."
- Detailed, structured notes
- Headings, bullet points, examples, formulas
- Good for: deep study, printing, Studio → Quiz source
- Prompt: "Create comprehensive study notes from the sources..."
Step-by-Step
Select sources — Enable checkboxes on sources you want included (left panel)
Open Actions tab — Right panel → "Actions" (sparkles icon)
Click Summary or Notes — Action Modal opens
Add instructions (optional) — e.g., "Focus on Physics formulas", "Sinhala headings", "Under 300 words"
Click Generate — the response streams in, then:
- Saves to your Vault automatically
- Adds a card to your chat history (middle panel)
- The card shows a title, type, and a "View" button
Custom Instructions Tips
| Goal | Instruction Example |
|---|---|
| Language | "Write in Sinhala with English terms" |
| Length | "Keep under 200 words" |
| Focus | "Only cover Electrostatics, skip Magnetism" |
| Format | "Use bullet points, bold key terms" |
| Level | "Explain like I'm in Grade 12" |
After Generation
- View in Vault — Right panel → Vault tab → click item → full viewer
- Re-generate — Hover Action Card → ⟳ → new version (saved as new Vault item)
- Use as Quiz source — Open Vault item → "Generate Quiz" from there
- Share — Action Card → Share → public link to Vault item
Vault items persist even if you delete the Studio session they were created in.
