Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 13 June 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and PastpaperLM ("we", "us", or "our") regarding your access to and use of the PastpaperLM platform, including the web application available at app.pastpaperlm.com and the marketing website at pastpaperlm.com (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account, accessing the Service, or otherwise using any part of the platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service.
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.
2. Our Services
PastpaperLM provides an AI-powered examination preparation platform specifically designed for students sitting Sri Lankan Advanced Level (A/L) examinations. The platform includes the following core features:
- Exam Center: A timed, distraction-free environment where students can sit full A/L past papers spanning more than 40 years, with instant auto-marking and detailed post-exam review.
- Classified MCQ: A practice module where every multiple-choice question from decades of A/L past papers is classified by subject and topic, enabling targeted drill sessions and mastery tracking.
- EPIS AI Tutor: The Educational Personalised Intelligence System — an AI assistant capable of answering questions about A/L subject matter in English, Sinhala, and Singlish. EPIS operates in three modes: Epis Lite (fastest, for quick revision), Epis Bright (balanced, for detailed explanations), and Prof. Epis (advanced reasoning, available on paid plans).
- Analytics Dashboard: A personal performance dashboard that visualises your progress over time, identifies weak areas by topic, tracks your accuracy, and displays session history.
We continually improve and evolve the Service. We may add, modify, or remove features at any time without prior notice, though we will endeavour to communicate significant changes to registered users.
3. Accounts & Registration
To access the full features of PastpaperLM, you must create an account. Account registration is currently handled via Google OAuth. By signing in with Google, you authorise us to receive your name and email address as provided by Google, which we use to create and maintain your account.
You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date. Each person is permitted to hold only one active account on PastpaperLM. Creating multiple accounts for the purpose of obtaining additional free allowances, evading suspensions, or any other reason constitutes a breach of these Terms and may result in all associated accounts being permanently suspended.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, you must notify us immediately at support@pastpaperlm.com. We are not liable for any losses caused by unauthorised use of your account.
We implement device enforcement measures to prevent account sharing and abuse. These measures may include recording device identifiers and limiting the number of devices from which your account may be accessed simultaneously.
4. Paid Plans & Credits
4.1 Prepaid Monthly Plans
PastpaperLM offers prepaid subscription plans (starting from ₨990 per month) that provide a higher daily credit allocation and access to additional features including Prof. Epis. Plans are prepaid for a 30-day period beginning on the date of purchase. They do not auto-renew; you must manually renew your plan before or after it expires. When a plan expires, your account returns to the Free tier automatically.
4.2 Credits as Internal Units
Credits are an internal unit of account used by PastpaperLM to meter usage of AI-powered features, particularly EPIS interactions. Credits have no monetary value outside of PastpaperLM, cannot be transferred between accounts, and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other form of currency. The number of credits required per interaction may vary based on the EPIS model used and the complexity of the request.
4.3 Monthly Plan Credit Expiry
Credits allocated as part of a monthly subscription plan expire at the end of the 30-day plan period and do not roll over unless you are on a qualifying plan tier. For plans that carry-over credits (currently Pro, Max, and Ultimate tier plans), unused credits will be carried over to the next plan period provided you renew your subscription within three calendar days of expiry. Credits that are not carried over within this window are forfeited.
4.4 Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) Wallet Credits
You may purchase credits as one-time top-ups through the Wallet (PAYG) system. PAYG credits never expire and remain in your wallet indefinitely. Wallet credits are drawn upon when your daily plan allocation is exhausted, or at any time if you do not hold an active subscription plan. Available credit packs are: ₨200 for 250 credits, ₨500 for 620 credits (including a 5% bonus), and ₨1,000 for 1,300 credits (including an 8% bonus). These pack values and bonuses are subject to change; the price and credits displayed at the time of purchase are the amounts that apply to your transaction.
5. Usage Limits & Fair Use
Free accounts are entitled to 8 EPIS Lite questions per day. This daily allowance resets at 00:00 UTC (05:30 AM Sri Lanka Standard Time) each day. Paid plan allocations and reset times are as specified within the application at the time of purchase.
You agree to use PastpaperLM solely for your own personal study and examination preparation. The following actions are strictly prohibited and constitute a material breach of these Terms:
- Using automated scripts, bots, crawlers, or any non-human means to interact with the Service or consume credits.
- Sharing your account credentials with any third party, including friends, family, or classmates.
- Using the Service to generate answers that are then sold, distributed, or commercially exploited in any way.
- "Farming" credits or allowances by creating multiple accounts or exploiting any bug or loophole in the system.
- Reselling access to your account or to generated AI outputs.
- Attempting to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or bypass any usage limit, rate-limiting mechanism, device enforcement, or security measure.
We reserve the right to apply rate limiting, temporarily suspend, or permanently terminate any account that we believe, in our sole discretion, is in violation of these fair use provisions. We also reserve the right to adjust usage limits for any plan tier at any time. Where limits are reduced for existing paying customers, we will provide reasonable advance notice.
6. Payments & Refunds
All payments on PastpaperLM are processed by PayHere, a licensed third-party payment gateway operating in Sri Lanka. All transactions are denominated in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR). We do not see, receive, or store your card number, CVV, bank credentials, or any other sensitive payment instrument data. By initiating a payment, you agree to PayHere's terms of service and privacy policy in addition to our own.
Your plan or wallet credits will be activated within a short period after PayHere confirms a successful payment to our system. If your payment is confirmed by PayHere but your account is not credited within 30 minutes, please contact support@pastpaperlm.com with your PayHere Order ID for investigation.
All purchases made on PastpaperLM are final and non-refundable, except in the following limited circumstances: (a) a duplicate charge was made for the same order, or (b) you made a confirmed payment for which PayHere issued a successful notification but the corresponding credits or plan were never activated in your account and we cannot resolve the issue within a reasonable period. Outside of these circumstances, we do not offer refunds for unused credits, plans that have partially elapsed, or plans purchased in error.
If you raise a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card provider without first contacting us, we may permanently suspend your account pending resolution. We take chargebacks seriously and will provide full transaction records to payment processors and financial institutions upon request.
7. AI Output Disclaimer
EPIS and all other AI-powered features of PastpaperLM generate outputs based on large language models. While we strive for accuracy, AI outputs may be incorrect, incomplete, out of date, or misleading. Mathematical derivations, scientific explanations, and essay-style responses provided by EPIS are study aids intended to help you understand concepts — they are not guaranteed to be correct and should not be treated as authoritative or definitive.
You should always verify AI-generated answers against authoritative sources such as official Department of Examinations marking schemes, approved textbooks, and your subject teachers or lecturers. PastpaperLM expressly disclaims all liability for any inaccuracies in AI-generated content and for any examination outcomes, whether positive or negative, that you attribute to use of the Service.
PastpaperLM is an educational aid, not a professional tutoring service or a substitute for qualified academic instruction. No guarantee of any examination result is made or implied by the use of this platform.
8. Free Plan
The Free plan is provided at no cost and requires no credit card. Free users receive 8 Epis Lite questions per day, access to the full past paper library spanning 40+ years of Sri Lankan A/L examinations, the Exam Center environment with auto-marking, Classified MCQ practice, and the Analytics dashboard. Free users do not have access to Epis Bright or Prof. Epis, and cannot use EPIS beyond the daily Lite question allowance.
The size and composition of the free daily allowance is determined entirely at our discretion and may be adjusted at any time without prior notice. We will endeavour to notify users of significant reductions via the application interface or by email to your registered address.
9. Other Channels (Telegram Bot)
PastpaperLM operates an experimental Telegram bot that provides access to certain EPIS features outside of the main web application. The Telegram bot is offered on an experimental, best-effort basis only. It operates under its own separate usage limits, which are independent of your daily web application allowance and may differ from those described in these Terms.
The Telegram bot may be changed, restricted, or permanently withdrawn at any time and without notice. Availability of the Telegram bot is not guaranteed, and any interruption or discontinuation of the bot does not entitle you to a refund or credit adjustment for any paid plan or wallet balance.
10. Intellectual Property
All software, code, user interface designs, graphics, text, and other content that constitute or are part of PastpaperLM — excluding third-party content — are the property of PastpaperLM and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial study purposes only.
Past papers from Sri Lankan A/L examinations are produced by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka. We reproduce these papers under the principle of fair use for educational purposes. We claim no ownership over the content of past papers.
Any files that you upload to the platform (such as your own notes or question images) remain your property. By uploading files, you grant us a limited licence to process and store those files solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your uploaded content and will not use it for any purpose beyond operating the Service.
11. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@pastpaperlm.com. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Any unused wallet credits or remaining plan days are forfeited upon voluntary account deletion and will not be refunded.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account, with or without prior notice, if we determine in our sole discretion that you have breached these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, engaged in behaviour that harms other users or the platform, or for any other reason that we determine justifies termination. If your account is terminated for breach, you will not be entitled to any refund of unused credits or remaining plan time.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that any information obtained through the Service will be accurate or reliable.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PastpaperLM, its operators, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service exceed the total amount paid by you to us in the twelve months immediately preceding the claim giving rise to liability, or ₨1,000, whichever is greater.
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and post the revised Terms on this page. For significant changes, we may also notify registered users by email or through a notice in the application. Your continued use of the Service after any changes to the Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
In the event of any dispute arising in connection with these Terms or the Service, you agree to first attempt to resolve the matter informally by contacting our support team at support@pastpaperlm.com. We will endeavour to respond to and resolve any complaint within a reasonable timeframe. If the matter cannot be resolved informally, both parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
16. Age & Eligibility
PastpaperLM is designed for students preparing for Sri Lankan A/L examinations, typically aged 16 and above. Students under 18 may use the Service, but purchases by users under 18 require the consent of a parent or guardian. By making a purchase, you confirm that you are 18 or older, or that you have obtained parent or guardian consent.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will take steps to delete the account and any associated data.
